In 2017, we joined forces with some twenty other companies from the Grasse fragrance and flavor industry to found Grasse Expertise. It was a way to create something that represents the depth and breadth of this industry in Grasse, for it encompasses an underestimated and truly priceless treasure trove of skill and diversity. The finest proof of this value is UNESCO’s having included the skills related to perfume in the Pays de Grasse on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. So, in some ways, the savoir-faire, this UNESCO world heritage, is the intangible and cultural dimension, and Grasse Expertise is the economic dimension, to be able to market ourselves on a par with places like Cosmetic Valley or other organizations, to be able to promote what I consider to be an asset for the city of Grasse, one that, again, is priceless and yet underestimated. For what other city of a mere 50,000 inhabitants can lay claim to such a signature?
